Labels Can Create “Sticky” Situations
We don’t often think about it, but labels are a part of the human experience.
Your brain requires a way to understand your existence in our relative world.
When you were born, you were labeled “boy” or “girl”.
You may have had siblings making you a “brother” or “sister.”
If you were the first and last child of your parents, you were (and may still be) an “only child.”
You may have been a cousin, aunt, uncle, stepchild, or adopted child.
These labels were in place only moments after you were born and were only the beginning.
As life goes on and you were compared to your fellow humans, you may have received the label of ADHD, hyperactive, or “chill.”
As life’s events piled up, you may have experienced depression and/or anxiety. You may have been in an accident and are now labeled “disabled.”
But the beautiful thing is that these labels are not who you are.
How do you escape the affect of these labels? How do you begin to vision and then create the life you truly desire to experience.
The “un-labeling” process takes time, as does any wonderful change. This is you taking charge of your own life and letting your brain know whose boss!
To get you started, we have put together a “Releasing Labels” meditation and worksheet intended to help you start (or continue) the process of releasing “sticky” labels.
Use this form to access the meditation and worksheet downloads.
We are excited to hear how you enjoy this meditation and how you made out with creating a vision for a life without labels.
